    You could try this first . Click on home icon on bottom, click on system settings,scroll down and click on Security, then in Unknown sources , allow installation of apps from unknown sources.Check the box.
     Note  I wouldn't risk installing different browsers, and apps, or trying anything if tool is out of it's update and warranty period and having a back up of the Scan folder if you got the tool second hand.
